Kamenar: The Tampa Boys’ Hustle Continues - Steve Brown of Tesla & Tommy Lee of Motley Crue Take Notice

KAMENAR - THE TAMPA BOY'S HUSTLE CONTINUES!

Our very own local boys, and friends of TBMN, John and Sean Kamenar aren’t exactly sitting around waiting for their inevitable shot. The twin brothers behind Kamenar have been putting in the work, writing and recording new music in the studio after wrapping up an extensive tour with Pop Evil and enjoying a little well-earned downtime. And while they’ve been catching their breath at home here in Tampa, some rock ’n’ roll heavyweights have been taking notice. Tesla drummer Steve Brown was recently spotted sporting a KAMENAR tee while playing at the recent Mid Florida Credit Union Amphitheater gig on The Return of the Carnival of Sins Tour. But the real “holy shit” moment from that night came backstage when the brothers met one of their biggest heroes, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.

Lee didn’t just say hello and take the cheesy obligatory pic. He kicked it with the brothers for roughly half an hour, handed them a used and signed snare drum head, and is now helping spread the KAMENAR name across his social media. “Going back to Day One since we decided to start playing music, Tommy’s always been on our Mount Rushmore of greatest inspirations,” the brothers said. “This moment right here ignited us with a kick in the ass to keep hustling!” They summed up the encounter perfectly with another bit of KAMENAR honesty: “Big love to this crazy motherfucker!

Thanks Tommy Lee & team for the hospitality, legendary hangs & stage used snare!” For a couple of Tampa brothers raised on the kind of loud, unapologetic rock that made The Crue legends, getting that kind of love from Tommy Lee is more than a cool backstage story, it’s fuel. KAMENAR will take a couple of breaks from the studio in October, hitting Hard Rock in Daytona on October 3rd before settling into a more stripped-down, acoustic show with members of Faster Pussycat and the Bret Michaels Band on October 16th.

The talented twins (and extremely nice guys) may be taking a tiny break from recording, but judging by who’s starting to notice them, they’re definitely not taking their foot off the gas. We here at Tampa Bay Music News are looking forward to what’s next and we’ll definitely keep you posted.
